Under the Cover

of Darkness...

April. 1861. The American Civil War has divided the country, and the nation's capital, Washington, D.C., stands in the middle of the conflict.

Rose Velmont wants nothing to do with the war or the newly elected president, Abraham Lincoln. After all, her life in Washington, D.C. consists of parties, friends, and a father who takes care of everything. But her days of innocence are coming to an end. As the Civil War rips her family apart, Rose is left alone as thousands of troops move into Washington to protect the city from a Confederate attack.

Now a stranger in the city she once called home, Rose is keeping her guard up--until she falls for Henry Gleason, a drifter and struggling actor  who has temporarily settled in Washington after finding a job at Ford's Theatre.

But when Rose discovers a heavy burden buried deep within Henry Gleason's heart, and shocking secrets from Rose's own past suddenly resurface, fear and shame force Rose into a decision that traps her in the bloodiest battle of the war---and leaves her wondering if she will ever outrun the truth--Or is the worst yet to come?

A deeply moving and profoundly compelling story, "Under the Cover of Darkness" takes you on an emotional, intimate journey through a young woman's sacrifices as she battles with love and loss, friendship and betrayal, and a war that divided a nation.

"Paige gives vibrant lessons in the awareness that history is more than just names and dates. Her presentations make history clearly come alive with a passion infused nature for digging out the truth in historic events."
